Palo Alto High School Baccalaureate Speech

Guy Kawasaki's top 10 Hindsights are

  1. Enjoy your family and friends before they are gone.
  2. Obey the absolutes.
  3. Play to win and win to play.
  4. Don’t get married too soon.
  5. Learn to like yourself or change yourself until you can like yourself.
  6. Continue to learn.
  7. Learn to speak a foreign language, play a musical instrument, and play non-contact sports.
  8. Challenge the known and embrace the unknown.
  9. Pursue joy, not happiness.
  10. Live off your parents as long as possible.
How am I doing?

  6. I try to learn something new everyday. However, I am forgetting things too quickly ...
  7. Still need to work on a foreign language, improve my piano, and get back into tennis and volleyball.

  9. I studied what I love. I don't plan to force my kids to follow in my footsteps or to live my dreams.
  10. I moved out of home when I was 20 but I delayed, as long as possible, the inevitable entry into the workplace by doing a PhD.
